Where a wrong hire costs safety

Cockpit, cabin, signal box, maintenance: where the wrong hire costs safety, selection procedures are prescribed, standardised and high in volume. flynne checks qualifications and supervision ratios at every assignment, keeps track of deadlines and documents every step.

Multi-stage procedures over weeks.

Each stage with its own participants, rooms and deadlines, in the prescribed order.

Safety roles staffed properly.

Qualification and supervision ratios are checked at every assignment, not afterwards.

Medical fitness and language proof in view.

Certificates with an expiry date as their own stage, with a warning before a deadline bites.

Someone drops out on the day.

Disruption detection spots the gap and only suggests assignments that are allowed.

Built for volume and high stakes

From apprentice selection to the purser procedure: flynne organises every type of procedure, multi-day, multi-stage and across many sites.

How a multi-stage procedure runs in flynne

Five steps that look the same for cockpit, cabin and train drivers and still follow their own rules.

  1. 1

    Procedure type from a template

Stages, participants, documents and deadlines are fixed before the first slot is handed out.

  2. 2

    Candidates book their stage

Self-booking into pre-planned windows, without an account, with a reminder on the phone.

  3. 3

    Certificates run alongside

Medical fitness and language proof as their own stages, with a status and an expiry date.

  4. 4

A release before the next stage

A candidate only moves on after a documented release, never out of order.

  5. 5

    Disruption is detected

If an assessor drops out, flynne only suggests people who meet the qualification and the deadline.

What is prescribed for cockpit, cabin and signal box

DIN 33430

Occupational aptitude assessment. It requires documented procedures, qualified participants and traceable decisions. flynne stores the qualification requirements per type of procedure and only allows staffing that matches.

EASA Part-MED and Part-CC

Medical fitness and competence for flight personnel. The examinations themselves are carried out by approved bodies; flynne holds the certificates, their deadlines and their link to the procedure together.

TfV § 5 and § 16: psychological aptitude

A train driver licence requires a psychological examination under Annex 4 (§ 5 (1) no. 4). Only a psychologist approved under § 16 may carry it out, and that approval lasts five years at most (§ 16b). Scheduling therefore has to find not just an available person, but one with a valid approval. flynne checks exactly that on every assignment.

AGG and merit-based selection

Equal treatment during the procedure and, wherever merit-based selection applies, priority for the best applicant. flynne logs every decision, ready for audits and for challenges from unsuccessful candidates.

EU AI Act

Systems that take part in hiring decisions count as high risk. flynne judges nobody: the aptitude decision is always made by a qualified person, and the AI works purely on the organisation.

Five roles, five procedures

Every role brings its own rules, its own participants and a bottleneck of its own.

Day overview

Multi-stage procedures over weeks: computer-based performance tests, group exercises, structured interviews, plus medical fitness under EASA Part-MED Class 1 and the ICAO language proficiency check. Each stage has its own participants, its own rooms and its own deadlines, and may only run in the right order.

Cabin

High volumes in short windows, often several hundred applicants per campaign. A safety-related role under EASA Part-CC, so alongside aptitude there is medical fitness, a swimming certificate and language skills. Group procedures with fixed supervision ratios.

Train drivers

A psychological aptitude examination under the German Triebfahrzeugführerscheinverordnung, carried out by recognised bodies. The Eisenbahn-Bundesamt checks compliance. The procedures are prescribed rather than designed, and every step has to be documented.

Engineering and maintenance

Certifying staff need demonstrated qualification and recurring assessment. Selection and re-examination run alongside operations, at many sites and without disrupting shift work.

Managers and specialists

Individual procedures with high effort per head: several assessors, case studies, presentations. Finding dates with people who have barely any free calendar; here the bottleneck is not the applicants.

Common questions from this sector

We run several sites in different countries. Does that work?

Yes. flynne plans across all sites, with local time zones, public holidays and languages. Psychologists and assessors can be deployed across sites where their qualification fits, and scheduling takes travel time into account.

Our procedures run for weeks and have several stages. Is that supported?

Yes. A type of procedure can have any number of stages, each with its own participants, documents and deadlines. Candidates only move to the next stage once released, and each stage has its own scheduling logic.

What happens if somebody drops out on the day?

flynne detects the gap immediately and checks every possible replacement against qualification, impartiality, travel time and open deadlines. Only permissible alternatives are suggested; a person decides.

How long are the documents kept?

According to your deletion concept, which we set up during implementation. Periods from regulations and retention duties can be configured separately per type of data. What has to be deleted is deleted, demonstrably.

Does flynne replace our applicant tracking system?

No. Your applicant tracking system stays the system of record. flynne takes over as soon as a candidate enters the assessment stage and reports result and status back. The connection works in both directions.

Ready for assessment days that simply run?

Tell us briefly how you run assessments today and we will show you in 30 minutes how flynne helps.

We reply within one working day.
